Innovation Alert:  06-26-08

... The Regional Workforce Alliance of Southeastern Wisconsin announced it is awarding a total of $490,944 in
federal money to 10 area partnerships that have proposed job training projects for the Milwaukee 7 region.  The
funds are part of a $2.5 million grant from the Department of Labor through an initiative titled Workplace Innovation
in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) Innovation Fund.  Waukesha County Economic Development
Corporation (WCEDC) was chosen as one of the lead agencies and awarded $33,310 to explore the development
of a "Workplace Diversity Toolkit" for southeastern Wisconsin.

... Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation (WCEDC) has committed to partner with Wisconsin
Community Services, Inc. (WCS) to explore the development of a "Strategic Plan" that will educate, train, connect
and support urban, ex-offenders with demand-driven employer needs in Milwaukee County, Racine County and
Waukesha County.  WCS was awarded $29,344 from the Workplace Innovation in Regional Economic Development
(WIRED) Innovation Fund.

Sustainability Alert:  04-25-08 

... Waukesha Mayor Larry Nelson was a guest member of the "Mayors Panel - Messages from Eco-Municipalities
Around Wisconsin" breakout session at the first annual Wisconsin Sustainable Business Conference held in
Ashland, WI.  Mayor Nelson describes an "eco-municipality" as a community recognized as a leader in passing
environmentally friendly resolutions that favor sustainable practices.
